Partnership and Collaborations

ICGCSD is responsible for the promulgation of the work of IUPAC in green and sustainable chemistry through interaction with other relevant international chemical and non-chemical organizations with a common interest such as:

•    Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
•    International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre (ISC3  - Federal Environmental Agency UBA - Germany)
•    Organization for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)
•    United Nations Educational, Scientific Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
•    Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM)
•    United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)
•    International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA)
•    International Council for Science Unions (ICSU)
•    Chemical industries

icgcsd collaboration with the organization for economic cooperationOECD has had a longstanding interest in the opportunities offered by the application of Green and Sustainable Chemistry with its past and present commitment and projects in the Green and Sustainable Chemistry field

In 1998 IUPAC co-sponsored with OECD a Workshop on Sustainable Chemistry that was held in Venice and subsequently the outcomes of the workshop were approved at the OECD meeting in Paris, June 6th, 1999.

OECD is looking to build links with a range of organizations representing chemistry worldwide and ICGCSD is now in dialogue with OECD in order to understand how an effective collaboration could be conducted with the aim of working together on common fields of interest including proposing future co-financed projects and workshop, as also illustrated in OECD document “Synthesis report From the OECD workshop on alternatives assessment and Substitution of harmful chemicals”.

icgcsd collaboration with the international sustainable chemistry

IUPAC/ICGCSD representatives participated in the ISC3 meeting on 17-18 May 2017 in Berlin: a Platform, financed by the German Government, and launched on the occasion of the Conference “Mainstreaming Sustainable Chemistry.
The conference provided an opportunity to meet members of the ISC3 global network, which is open to everyone engaged in sustainable chemistry.

ISC3 supports the global breakthrough of Sustainable Chemistry.
ICGCSD and ISC3 will collaborate on common projects on Green and Sustainable Chemistry.

icgcsd collaboration with the organization for the prevention of chemical weapons ICGCSD is actively participating in the preparation and organization of the OPCW Workshop on Green Chemistry that will be held at the OPCW Headquarters in Le Hague on 16-17 November 2017.
The workshop, dedicated to Green Chemistry for non-toxic substitutes, will involve the participation of different stakeholders from industry, academia and other backgrounds and will focus on the following topics:

(a) less hazardous chemical syntheses;
(b) designing safer chemicals; and
(c) inherently safer chemistry for accident prevention.
In September 2016 OPCW actively participated as a sponsor in the 6th International IUPAC Conference on Green Chemistry in Venice with a self-organized session entitled “Chemistry for a More Secure and Sustainable World: the OPCW’s role”.
