IUPAC recently approved an international project, chaired by NAO-CNR, aimed at obtaining an updated and coherent version of the 2022 IUPAC Periodic Table of Elements in Italian language, solving the existing gaps and discrepancies found in the versions currently circulating in Italian speaking countries.
The Task Group is made up of experts with multifaceted scientific and technical backgrounds to find the broadest consensus on the translated names of the elements. The final version of the translated Periodic Table will find an immediate application and impact in national educational institutions (primary and secondary schools) and technical agencies where Italian is a daily working language.
The project is the result of a great collaboration among three Italian-speaking countries (Italy, San Marino, Switzerland) and important institutions and associations: Dipartimento Istruzione, Segreteria di Stato Istruzione e Cultura della Repubblica di San Marino, Accademia della Crusca, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Società Chimica Svizzera, Società Chimica Italiana, la Federazione delle Associazioni Scientifiche e Tecniche e Federchimica.
