Behind the Periodic Table: Scientists, Critical Elements and Wars

The Secretariat of State for Education and Culture and the Department of Education and Culture are pleased to promote the official presentation, in the Republic of San Marino, of the Italian-language edition of the IUPAC 2024 Periodic Table. The event will take place on Tuesday 24 February at 3:00 p.m. in the Lanfranco Ferroni Aula Magna.

The initiative aims to highlight Dmitri Mendeleev’s Periodic Table not only as a foundational tool of chemistry, but also as one of the most significant achievements in human knowledge. The lecture will offer a journey through the history of the chemical elements, from naturally occurring to synthetic ones, addressing topics that span science, history, art, and ethics.

Organised in collaboration with the Italian Chemical Society and the National Research Council, the event will feature contributions from leading experts from academia and the research community, including scholars involved in IUPAC activities. This occasion represents an important opportunity for in-depth study and scientific outreach, addressed to students, teachers, and all members of the public interested in major themes of knowledge and scientific progress.

EU Contest for Young Scientists

news03 Fast NAO-CNR enthusiastically sponsored the Italian selection of the “EU Contest for Young Scientists” (EUCYS – European Union Contest for Young Scientists ), organized by FAST (Federation of Scientific and Technical Associations, https://fast.mi.it/) in Milan on 15-17 March 2025. The event allowed the selection of best Italian talents who will participate in EUCYS - European Union Contest for Young Scientists. FAST further enhances the important experience by choosing or accrediting the most deserving young people to represent Italy in the most prestigious international events for excellent students.

IUPAC WORLD CHEMISTRY CONGRESS e GA

news04 Malayisia This year, the 50th World Chemistry Congress and the 53rd IUPAC General Assembly (GA) will be held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), for the first time in Asia. The theme of the congress is "Chemistry for Sustainable Future" and in addition to plenary and parallel sessions, interesting thematic symposia are planned. BIOTECHNOLOGIES AND MAGNETIC RESONANCES
