IUPAC STATEMENT ON UKRAINE
In the dramatic circumstance of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the NAO-CNR supports and disseminates the IUPAC statement (March 1, 2022) (https://iupac.org/iupac-statement-on-ukraine/)
"In view of Russia’s incursion into Ukraine, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) wishes to express its repulsion and condemnation of the use of violence as a means of conflict resolution in this case and any other. War is never the solution; it only exacerbates problems, causes pain, and creates innocent victims.
For more than 100 years, IUPAC has promoted the use of chemistry to benefit humankind and the planet through research, the free exchange of ideas, and international cooperation. Today, we call on the Russian authorities to comply with international conventions and to ensure the integrity of civilians, scientists, educators, and dissidents.
Our thoughts are with the victims of so much violence, and we call on world authorities and international organizations to make every effort to end this bloodshed."
We also support and share statements of ISC, Euchems and CNR.
